Ultimate (Frisbee) Basketball

What you need: Basketball court with goal, 1 or 2 nerf balls or dogeball type balls.

How to Play: The rules are exactly like ultimate frisbee except instead of using a frisbee you use a nerf ball or something soft (ball shaped) you can throw to everyone. You score a point everytime you make a basket. The only difference is if you shoot toward the goal and it hits the backboard or rim and you miss, then the other team gets the ball.

You can play it with 2 balls at the same time and it make it crazy. We play it with 20 or so people on a team. If you have 5 or 10 on a team you may want to use 1 ball.

If you have only 1 basketball goal. You can make each team when they change posession have to take it behind the backline.

Have fun! Love to hear if you play it how it worked for you and any variations to this game.

Youth Ministry Tip #12: If you draw students to your ministry because of Pizza they stay b/c of Pizza. What are you drawing students with? I know it is tempting in your ministry to do whatever it takes to get a kid to come to your event or program. Just be very careful you don’t always trick them into coming. Nothing puts a bad taste for Jesus in someone’s mouth than Pizza with a surprise attack of the Gospel. If you want students to return to your ministry and to want to know Jesus. Help them realize how much they need Him. If you draw people to church b/c of pizza, games, and fun then keep your event that way. Have your students build relationships with their friends and then invite them to Jesus. You don’t have to share the gospel every time you are with a kid. But you do have to love them and make them feel like they can belong! That leads them to wanting to know more about the God you serve! What are some ways that you tried drawing kids to church that didn’t work? What ways did work? What ways led to them wanting to know more about Jesus?

Ok, I will have to give props to our Worship Pastor Aaron Leeds for this one. We had a game where we wanted people to come up front and try and answer some cool trivia questions about Christmas. We thought of having them raise hands and see who did it the quickest then Aaron came up with a great idea. He got 2 paper cups and a piece of candy. He put the candy in the middle of a table and handed the cups to the 2 people competing to answer the question. We put the question up and as soon as they knew they put the cup over the candy. There was no question on who was the fastest b/c they had the candy. We did this with name that Christmas Song as well. At your next youth event or game of family feud use the paper cups and candy..just be sure they don’t eat all your candy.
